Mama Bobo

Everyday the old widow Mama Bobo goes to the same bus stop in Dakar. Sitting on the bench, she remembers her past life and her husband who died long ago, until her routine gets interrupted. In Wolof and French with English subtitles.

Sega

(Senegal, 2018, 24 min)

Directed by Idil Ibrahim.

When his efforts to reach Europe prove unsuccessful, Sega is thrust back to Dakar where he must now confront his family and friends and navigate his disappointment as well. Winner of Zanzibar International Film Festival’s Short Film Award 2019. In Wolof and French with English subtitles.

SenCinema

(USA/Senegal, 2018, 34 min.)

Directed by Amadou Fofana and Josh Gibson.

SenCinema is a documentary co-directed by Dr. Amadou Fofana, Willamette University professor and CFAF Committee member, and Josh Gibson from Duke University. It is about the history of the once-vibrant film culture of Senegal during the heyday of filmmakers such as Ousmane Sembene and Djibril Diop Mambety. It explores the factors contributing to its decline and the possibilities for its revival. In English.
