The 2021 Cascade Festival of African Films will be held virtually from February 5 to March 10, 2021. The festival will remain free and open to the public, but films will be shown online. Check back here soon for more details and the list of films!

Muna Moto / The Child of Another

Heralded as a classic social realist African masterpiece, and an African Romeo and Juliet tale, Muna Moto tells the story of Ngando and Ndomé. Although they are deeply in love, Ngando cannot afford the traditional dowry to marry his now pregnant Ndomé. Against his better judgment, he asks his childless uncle (despite four wives) for help. Soon, a convenient marriage is arranged, but not to the liking of anyone.

African Film Heritage Series

This special Wednesday evening series is courtesy of the African Film Heritage Project, a branch of Martin Scorsese’s The Film Foundation/World Cinema Project, which is dedicated to locating and preserving 50 classic African films, some thought lost and others thought beyond repair. We are pleased to show these films in conjunction with The Film Foundation’s 30th year anniversary.
